The backbone of the US artillery is formed by field artillery
battalions equipped with the 155mm M109A6 "Paladin" self propelled
howitzer. The article covers one such battalion, the 1st Battalion
7th Field Artillery Regiment. The mission of the unit is to destroy
or neutralize the enemy by artillery fire in combined-arms
operations.
2. Exercise Thüringer Löwe of the German Artilleriebrigade
100.
The newly formed German Artilleriebrigade 100 was deployed in FTX
Thüringer Löwe, a brigade size field training exercise.
Concentrating all of the German army's artillery, surveillance and
rocket artillery units, the brigade is one of the six brigades
under the command of the HTrKdo. ArtBrig 100 has in its inventory
MARS, PzH 2000, M109A3 GE, as well as the CL289 and Luna
drones.
3. Belgian 7th Mechanized Brigade, the "Gallic" Brigade
The Gallic Brigade consists of armored infantry, tank and artillery
units. The Leopard 1A5 and AIFV form the backbone of the mechanized
punch of the brigade, supported by M109A2 self-propelled howitzers
and logistics vehicles like Bergepanzer and Leguan
bridgelayer.
